Water management strategy

Responsible drainage is every land owners concern.   This is why the "New Approach" has been implemented.    Approvals are needed for any new or changing drainage projects to achieve the benefits of drainage while managing the risks.

Why is this importatant

  • to avoid infrastructure damage
  • degrade water quality from erosion
  • degrade water quality from increased contaminants
  • to avoid negative impacts on wildlife habitat

  • all drainage projects need approval
  • there is no such thing as 'grandfathered" when it comes to drainage projects
  • Water Security Agency will implement this the New Approach

Is there funding available?

The Farm Stewardship Program does have financial assistance to implement Beneficial Management Practices like water
