Our Vision

Our vision at RM of Nipawin No.487 is to become the leading provider of government services in the industry. We strive to achieve this by continually improving our services, investing in our team, and fostering long-term relationships with our clients.

  • A municipality is required to act through it's council.


  • Council exercises its powers by passing bylaws and resolutions.


  • An act or proceeding of council is not effective unless it is authorized or adopted by a bylaw or a resolution at a duly constituted public meeting of the council.


  • Everyone has a right to be present at council meetings and council committee meetings that are conducted in public unless the person presiding at the meeting expels a person for improper conduct.


  • Councils and council committees may close all or part of their meetings to the public if the matter to be discussed; is within one of the exemptions in Part III of The Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act; or concerns long-range or strategic planning.

What is ombudsman?

If you feel you have been treated unfairly by the RM of Nipawin # 487 and would like to make a complaint,  Ombudsman deals with these complaints.  

There is no cost to you for this process. 

If you would like to make a complaint

Please contact Ombudsman:

Steps to help you before contacting Ombudsman.

Please try to resolve the issue before contacting them.  Firstly, please contact a council member or the administrator at the RM office and ask us about our complaint process. 

Ombudsman can decide not to move forward if that fist step isn't taken before contact with them.

Will Ombudsman be your Representative?

No they wont. 

Ombudsman is independent and impartial.  

They do not advocate for the RM or anyone who contacts them.

Is this process confidential?

Ombudsman only shares as much of your information with the RM as is necessary to resolve your complaint.

What to expect for the outcome of this PROCESS.

There are many different out comes due to every case being different. Here are some possible results:

  • its possible that the RM and the person making a complaint will have a better working relationship.
  • The RM may be found to be acting fairly and then nothing more needs to be done.
  • The RM may take steps to correct or improve the situation.
  • The Ombudsman could decide that the RM acted unfairly or could have done better and recommendations to correct any unfairness process will be given to the RM.  


No mater what the results are Ombudsman will share the conclusion with the person who feels they have been treaty unfair.  They will also share the reasoning with you.
